When you’re in the early stages or resetting your business, it can feel like spinning your wheels, juggling a million tasks, and wondering why you’re not making progress. The thoughts of I can take care of this, what’s wrong with me, or I wanted this business this should come natural to me.. keeps coming up. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? I’ve been there and want you to know you’re not alone.
I completely understand how overwhelming it is to have an endless to-do list staring back at you and all these incredible ideas buzzing around in your head. Maybe some of those ideas are yours, or maybe you’ve been inspired by seeing others succeed. You know where you want your business to go—you can even picture it—but figuring out the best route to get there? That’s the part that feels confusing and uncertain.
And here’s the thing: your business journey is yours. It’s unlike anyone else’s. Not just because of what you do but how you envision it growing and thriving. That vision, those dreams—they matter. And it’s okay if you’re feeling stuck right now.
Recently, I asked a question in my Facebook group: What’s really stopping you from reaching your full potential? The responses I received were honest and relatable, and the one answer that got the most votes was a lack of clear and focused plan.
Does that hit home for you? If it does, take a deep breath. You’re not failing, and you’re not broken. You’re just in a place where things feel tangled—and that’s okay. I’ve been there, too, and I’ve learned that what makes the biggest difference is having a clear, actionable plan designed just for you. That’s why I want to share some simple steps you can take today to start untangling the overwhelm and making real progress toward your goals.
Every business is unique; what works for one may work differently for another. That’s why, when we work together, we’ll create a strategic plan that aligns with your business, vision, goals, and needs. The examples shared here are intended to inspire and guide you as you plan your unique journey. Use these ideas as a starting point and make them your own!
Step 1: Prioritize the Essentials
Example 1:
You’re planning your week and have tasks like:
- Preparing a presentation for a networking event
- Scheduling social media content
- Answering customer service emails or client requests/emails
- Organizing your workspace
Instead of trying to do it all, prioritize based on your goals. If your goal is to book clients, prioritize:
- Preparing your presentation for the networking event (where you can meet potential clients)
- Scheduling social media content to ensure consistent brand visibility
Result: Consider postponing tasks like organizing your workspace or answering emails that aren’t urgent, and delegate them if needed.
Example 2:
You’ve got a list of things to do, including:
- Drafting a proposal
- Reviewing your finances
- Designing a new lead magnet
- Planning next month’s content calendar
Focus on:
- Drafting the proposal (this directly contributes to landing a client)
- Reviewing finances (to understand your budget for growth)
Result: The design work and content planning can wait a few days, so you have room to focus on more impactful tasks.
Step 2: Create a Simple Plan
Example 1:
Goal for the next 30 days: Increase your email list by 50 subscribers.
Action steps:
- Create a free downloadable resource (like a checklist or template) that aligns with your audience’s needs.
- Promote it on social media every week to attract new leads.
- Send a follow-up email series to new subscribers with valuable content.
Result: By breaking your goal into bite-sized actions, you’re focused on one goal instead of juggling many at once.
Example 2:
Goal for the next 30 days: Set up an automated email marketing sequence.
Action steps:
- Choose an email marketing tool (like Mailchimp, Mailerlite, ConvertKit, Sender, Brevo…many others).
- Write the first 3 emails in the sequence (welcome email, value email, and product introduction).
- Set up automation rules and schedule the emails to send out.
Result: Each task is clear and achievable within a week, ensuring you don’t get stuck on bigger, overwhelming goals.
Step 3: Streamline Decision-Making
Example 1:
You’re deciding whether to invest in a new business tool. Instead of getting stuck in overthinking, ask yourself:……..
