Every Wednesday in my Business Growth Collective Facebook community, we do a short prompt called Show & Tell Fill-In-The-Blank.
It’s simple, yet incredibly powerful: women take this tiny exercise and turn it into authentic marketing content, such as posts, emails, blog articles, and even mailers, without feeling salesy.
Today, I want to give you a peek behind the scenes so you can try it too, even if you’re not in the group.
My hope is that you find value in learning how to discuss your business without feeling the need to ‘offer’ right away.
P.S. 😲 That’s me in the upper left corner in the mail picture speaking to one of many classes that day to small business owners in the event industry. Talk about showing up and not waiting for perfect!
Here is my answer and post using the ‘Show & Tell Fill in the Blank’:
If I could stop every business owner from making one mistake, it would be waiting until everything feels “perfect” before showing up online or in person! Here’s what they should do instead: share from where they are. Imperfect action builds trust and confidence faster than silence ever will.

💡PRO TIP: Feel free to use your answer in a post if you’d like. I create both and share on different platforms.
Here’s how to make it work for you in 4 steps:
1. Don’t overthink it
Even one sentence per blank is enough.
2. Turn it into content
- Social media posts
- Mini newsletters or emails
- Blog posts
- Stories, reels, or short videos
3. Add a tiny story or insight
Explain why you answered it that way or share a quick personal example. Sharing a real example helps build relatability and trust.
4. Invite engagement
Ask your audience to respond, share, or comment. Connection = trust = potential clients.
💡 Pro Tip: Keep a running list of your Fill-in-the-Blank answers. Over time, you’ll have a library of ready-to-use content across multiple channels.
Momentum isn’t built in perfect posts or flawless strategies. It’s built in small, consistent action. Showing up, sharing your voice, and being present, that’s what grows your business.
Testimonial~
Before working with Dawn, my business depended entirely on me. When my son’s health took a turn, I was suddenly working from a hospital room, running on pure exhaustion. Things started to slip, and as the sole income provider, the pressure was overwhelming. I had built this business from the ground up, and yet one family emergency nearly brought it all to a halt.
That’s when I was referred to Dawn. She helped me put systems, routines, and backup plans in place that actually fit the new reality we were living. With her support, I was able to keep my business moving forward while being fully present for my son. I can’t describe the relief of knowing I didn’t have to choose between caring for my family and keeping my business alive.
If you want a business that supports you (instead of collapsing when life gets messy), Dawn is the person to make it happen. She’s not just a coach- she’s lived it. And because of that, she knows exactly how to help you build a business that truly lasts. – Rebecca H.
